      <image:title>About - Maryville Academy partnership..</image:title>
<image:caption>- To continue to organize and host the annual Stephen Sexton Suicide Prevention Seminar - To continue to hold seminars, workshops and training events that educate not only Maryville staff but also the larger community on topics related to trauma and suicide prevention. - To continue to train Maryville program staff on the research and best practices that make a positive difference in addressing trauma and suicide. - To provide Maryville staff with initial and advanced training in the ARC (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) Model of Care, a treatment model that enables youth care workers to recognize trauma triggers and opportunities for earlier intervention regarding a child's mental health treatment needs. The increased awareness helps to reduce suicidal ideation and demonstration of self-harming behaviors exhibited by some Maryville youth. Projected Programs for 2019... The Sexton Institute along with the Jen School hosted a presentation on 4/16/19 on “Hot Topics In Special Education Law”. The world of education law has seen many changes in the last year. To explain these changes, Darcy Kriha and Mohammed Lakhani, partners at Kriha Law, gave an overview of legislation passed in 2018 and 2019. The presentation was well attended by local area school administrators. Several participants said they wish it had been an all day workshop (instead of 3 hours) as the information was so helpful. We were excited to present this as it reached out to a whole new group of people. On May 30th we will be hosting a seminar on Youth Mental Health First Aide. This is in partnership with Presence / Amita Health. It is an all day (8 hour workshop). The presenters asked to cap it at 50 participants. Within a week we are at capacity and have 26 on the waiting list. So we are talking with them about doing another presentation in June. I have attached the May flyer for your information. I think we have finally found a good presenter for military culture and veteran suicide. It is tentatively set for Thursday, September 12 which is National Suicide Awareness Week. I would like to talk with you sometime about other ideas / thoughts around suicide awareness week / month. For your awareness: Our administrative offices have moved off the Des Plaines Campus. Our offices are now located at 150 River Road in the Medical Office Building of Presence Health just down the Road from Maryville. We moved out of Mulcahey, so we could add 3 more programs for youth.</image:caption>
